i haven’t posted anything on my kitchen garden in ages..to make up for that, here’s one on my little calamansi lime plant..

i bought this pot of calamansi lime from a nursery more than a year ago..re-potted once, and it’s now sitting right outside the living hall window..it has been a host for countless butterflies’ eggs, which then hatched into caterpillars which chomped on its leaves..if the damage was too severe on the leaves, i always had to remove the crawlies even though i’d rather not..it’s nice to know that i’m contributing to the butterfly population.. =D

the plant has, since about half a year ago, constantly flowered and bore fruit..up there ↑ are the flower buds, about to bloom..

fragrant, pretty calamansi flowers.. =D

and when the petals dried up and fell off, little green nibs just like that one up there appeared..

lots and lots of ‘em.. =DDD

and they got bigger..

and bigger..

and when they got big enough, they start to ripen..
you know it’s ready for harvest when the skin on the fruit starts to get yellow hues here and there..and you know how home grown fruits and vegetables tend to taste sweeter and better than those bought outside?
*grins*
there’s just a sense of joy & happiness when we see them grow well and give us fruits. i’ll even smile to myself just seeing how well my pandan plant grows even w/o the fertilisers… hahaha… siao cha bo (hokkien: crazy lady)
. hope u’ll feature often on ur little window/balcony garden
will certainly do~ =D
